About the Profession
Registered Nurses (RNs) have a variety of options when it comes to where they work, and each location has its own set of benefits and challenges. The most common work settings for RNs includes hospitals, physicians’ offices, nursing care facilities and outpatient clinics. Your RN career can look very different depending on where you work and the patients you work with. Typical job types and responsibilities for RNs include ambulatory care, critical care, specialty care areas and rehabilitation. You may also choose to pursue further education and a career as a nurse practitioner, nurse leader, educator or other advanced nursing role.
About Our Program
Enrolling in our 1-Year track Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program offers you a wide range of career possibilities and work environments with patients ranging from infants to elderly and everyone in between. Nurses who have their ASN can work directly with patients as healthcare professionals, with the opportunity to pursue a higher-level of nursing degree later while still having a secure income in their chosen field.
Time, Credit Hour & Licensure Requirements
Total Time Commitment: Three (3) Semesters over the course of twelve (12) consecutive months
- Theory Classes: Monday-Friday – Between 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Clinical Rotations: Vary by Semester
- Day and/or Weekend Clinical Hours: May be Possible
Total Training Requirement: 38 credits over three consecutive semesters (12 months).
- Theory Class Credits: 17 credit hours / 255 class hours
- Nursing Skills Lab: 1 credit hour / 30 hours
- Clinical Practice 8 credit hours / 360 hours
Licensure Requirements:
- After successful completion of the program, graduates of the Associate of Science in Nursing program are eligible to take the National Council’s Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN).

Program Admission Requirements
In addition to completing our online application and meeting our school’s general admissions requirements, applicants who are approved for the One-Year LPN to ASN Track will have demonstrated that they:
Hold a current, unencumbered Practical Nursing license
Graduated from
An accredited school AND Board of Nursing approved Practical Nursing program OR Equivalent education
Completed required nursing courses with a final grade of B- (80%) or better.
Completed the TEAS Pre-Entrance Exam within the last 12 months with a score of 64 or higher
Completed the preparatory course requirements listed below
Submitted other required documents, including: Our Clinical Proficiency form, proof of health insurance, proof of legal residence in the U.S.
- Please note: Applicants born in a country where English is NOT an official language are required to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
Program Prepatory Course Requirements
Applying Credits Earned Elsewhere Toward Program Admission Requirements
The LPN to ASN track requires 72 credits for graduation. All previous education and experience will be evaluated, and credits will be granted accordingly to decrease the number of courses and reduce cost.
The LPN to ASN student may transfer up to:
17 nursing credits from their practical nursing program
- Additional nursing courses taken elsewhere are not eligible for credits.
27 non-nursing credits to fulfill the graduation requirement.
- In-Person science courses taken within 5 years of the date of application will be reviewed for credit.
- Online science courses or science courses with an in-home lab kit are not accepted for transfer.
- Non-science courses taken within 10 years of the date of application will be reviewed for credit.

For a printable list of required documents, please refer to the Application Checklist. Those accepted into the program are required to attend a mandatory Orientation. Accepted applicants also must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
