Step 2: High school Transcript

Official transcripts must be sent directly to our school by the issuing institution. This can be via mail, secure electronic exchange, or hand-delivered in a sealed envelope. Ask your high school to forward an official transcript to our Registrar’s Office. If you have a GED or HiSET, request that a reporting institution sends a copy directly to our Registrar’s Office.

Step 3: College Transcripts

College transcripts are required from all previously attended colleges.

Upon receipt of the transcript, our Registrar will review your request and if your coursework is approved, you will be awarded  transfer for credits of the approved course(s).

Step 4: Immunization Waiver

To get this application, submit the request for Immunization exemption in your application status portal. Two types of exemptions may be applied for:

  • Exemption based on a medical reason such as an allergy to the components of a vaccine
  • Exemption based on religious beliefs

Exemptions may be applied for after acceptance into the programs, and applications will be reviewed by our governing organization, Covenant Health.

Step 5: Take the Placement Assessment

The nursing program requires the TEAS entrance exam.

Step 6: Proof of Citizenship

There are many ways you can verify this. Documents must be presented in person or uploaded to your application status portal.

Credit Transfer Policy

General Policy Regarding Credit Transfers from Other Accredited schools (Applies to All Programs)

To prevent you from having to retake classes that you have already taken and keep the cost of your education as low as possible, we will evaluate all of your previous education credits and grant credits accordingly.  Courses accepted as transfer credits must be the equivalent of the required courses at St. Joseph School of Nursing.  For example, a course in English literature is not equivalent to the SJSON course English 101, however a course in English Composition is equivalent.

General Transfer Credit Requirements:
Transfer requests must include an official transcript, sealed in an envelope marked official or sent directly to the school from the accredited college(s) or post-secondary school(s). Upon receipt, transcripts will be reviewed with 45 days by the Registrar, in accordance with pre-determined courses approved by the School of Nursing’s Dean and Associate Deans. Our policy is as follows:

  • In-Person Science Courses Taken Within 5 Years: Eligible for Credit Transfer Following Review
