We’ve compiled all of the information you will need to know on our website, and our we’ve developed a downloadable checklist to support you throughout the possible.

1-Year Track ASN Program for LPNs – Application Checklist:

All items on the checklist must be submitted by 12pm on the day of the program application deadline. Only completed files are reviewed for acceptance.
Must meet all preparatory requirements to apply
- If you want to ensure that your preparatory courses meet the necessary requirements for transfer credits you can have transcripts reviewed by the Registrar or Admission Office
- Must have graduated from an accredited school and Board of Nursing approved LPN program or equivalent education
- Must hold a current LPN License (any state)
TEAS (pre-entrance exam) Official Results – register at atitesting.com, approximate cost $120
- Require overall score of 64 or higher. Individual scores are reviewed as well.
- Exam scores are valid for 1 year from the date of the exam.
- Exams taken at a different location can be submitted. ATI will need to send results to SJSON directly.
Submit the online application
- Pay $50 application fee via phone or mail – checks can be made payable to St. Joseph School of Nursing
- Essay of approximately 500 words – topic on application; Do Not Plagiarize
Submit Official Transcripts
PLEASE NOTE: All transcripts must come from the institution(s) directly either by email, US mail, or if hand carried must be in an unopened official school envelope with seal.
- High school, GED or HiSET transcript (required for ALL applicants)
- College, from all postsecondary schools attended
- All foreign language transcripts must be translated. CED (Boston) or WES (New York) Official Translation of Foreign Transcript(s) (if applicable)
Students applying with GED or HiSET results will need to have their official scores sent from the Department of Education or ETS, respectively. Please also have official high school transcripts sent in for any coursework completed in the classroom. Please reach out with any additional questions.

Proof of Health Insurance
- Copy of insurance card
- If your name is not on the card, submit additional documentation from insurance company showing coverage
Proof of Legal Residence in the US – submit a copy of one of the following:
- US Birth Certificate
- Unexpired US Passport
- Certificate of Naturalization
- Unexpired Permanent Resident Card
If you attended, but did not complete a nursing program, submit a letter from the Dean of the program indicating that you were not dismissed for ethical reasons.
Applicants born in a country where English is NOT an official language are required to take the TOEFL.
- Register at ets.org/toefl
- SJSON code is 1677
- Results for the TOEFL are only good for 2 years from the date of the exam.
- Passing scores are as follows: 20 in Speaking & Listening; 17 in Writing; 16 in Reading and 73 Overall
- ONLY a foreign-born applicant who became a Permanent US Resident or Naturalized Citizen before the age of six (6) may request an exemption. A letter requesting the exemption must be submitted in person to the Admission Office along with your original permanent resident card or certificate of naturalization at least six (6) weeks before the application deadline. The exemption will be reviewed, and the applicant notified if the exemption has been granted.

For those accepted into the program, attendance at Orientation is mandatory. Accepted applicants must also pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
